The downloading process is fairly straight forward but there are some tips below which may be helpful:
1) Go to the College Finances, Home Finances, the Personal Organizer, the Expense Worksheet, or the Retirement Financial Calculations section. Click on the "Order" button for the program which you would like to order.
2) A table will appear with your order. If everything is correct and you are ready to order, click on the "Check Out" button. This will take you to a secure page (notice the security lock in the lower right hand corner of the page) where you can fill in your address and credit card information. When you are ready, click the "Yes: Place Order" button. If everything has been entered correctly, your order will be processed and a conformation page will appear.
3) Click on the red "Download Now" button in the order table. This will will start the download.
You can also access the download page later at your convenience by clicking on the "Download" button in the left margin of the HOME PAGE. This will take you to a Yahoo order tracking page. Fill in the box that asks for your order number. Your order number should be easyspreadsheets-xxx where the xxx are the digits associated with your specific order. Hit the enter key and this will take you to a page that will ask for the credit card number used to make this order. Enter the credit card number and exploration date, and enter. You will not be charge again. This is simply a way of varifying the order. This should take you to your order page where you can click on the red Download Now button.
4) Downloading will take approximately 10 minutes if your modem is connnected to the internet at 26,000 Baud. It will be faster or slower depending upon the Baud rate (52,000 Baud will take 5 minutes or 13,000 Baud will take 20 minutes). The transfer progress bar at the bottom of the page may not accurately reflect the progress of the download so wait for the transmission to finish.
5) When the transmission is complete, the downloading process will either call up EXCEL from your computer and load the spreadsheet or it will display the spreadsheet in your browser. From Excel or from your browser, it is required that the spreadsheet program then be saved to an appropriate file folder on your hard drive using the ""File", "Save As"" function in the command bar of the browser or Excel. A preferred folder in which to save the spreadsheet (HFin.xls, CFin.xls, PassVault.xls, etc.), would be something like C:/My Documents. Once you have it saved on your hard drive you can load the spreadsheet from Excel (click on File and then Open in Excel) when you are ready to use the program.
If you forgot to save the spreadsheet to your hard drive and can not locate it in temporary files later, go back to the HOME page of the Yahoo EasySpreadsheets site. Click on the Download Button in the left hand margin and go through the Yahoo order tracking system using your order number (easyspreadsheets-xxx where the xxx are the digits associated with your specific order) as described in Step 3 above to redownload the spreadsheet.
8) The spreadsheet programs are downloaded using a combined Excel 97 and Excel 95 format (this creates a larger than normal file). This format allows users with either software package (Excel 97 or Excel 95) to use the spreadsheet program. When using the Excel "Save as" command, the spreadsheet programs can be saved in just Excel 97 format (or just Excel 95 format). This will allow the programs to fit on a 3 1/2" floppy disk.
9) If you can not remember where the file has been saved, click on Start in the bottom left hand corner of Windows and then click on Find. Fill in the appropriate file name (CFin-SE.xls, CFin-QE.xls, HFin.xls, HFin-E.xls, PassVault.xls, Exp-Work.xls, or Retire-Calc.xls) and execute the Find operation.
